Final Project Proposal
For my final project, I want to focus on experimental photography. Specifically different ways to frame a subject. I’ve always found it fascinating how creative one can get with framing. I like the idea of using natural and artificial framing. The more I work with photoshop in this class and focus on the composition of my photos, the more I realize I want to branch out from traditional photos and try something new. In this case, framing. I think there is an unlimited amount of possibilities for this. I want to try and create my own frames, use those naturally around me, and incorporate silhouettes. Framing is something in photography that is very important, but I don’t think, photographers always stop to think about how their literal frame could be more creative. Which is what I’m hoping this project will make me do. With the main focus of my project being creative framing it will force me to think about it. Which I’m excited about because I can truly be creative with what I do. I can control every aspect of my photos. 

I think critiques will be the best part of this project. Having multiple opinions helps me to become a better photographer. I try to show my pictures to people before I submit them to class anyway to gain a different perspective on my work. I think the viewer will want to spend time with my work because it is different. There aren’t too many photographers focused on creative and experimental framing, especially not in this class. I think it will give the viewer something fresh to see. I want them to wonder why and how something was done. I anticipate a few challenges coming up during this project. The first one being, how many frames do I want to make myself and how many do I want to find in the world around me. I also think it will be hard to find people to help me. I’ve been using the same few people for all my projects, but with break and finals coming up, they are getting busier and less willing to help. Which I understand. But I think my biggest challenge will be finding subjects to frame and finding a way to make them look interesting. All these challenges I can avoid as long as I plan and express what I want.

Leamy: Final Project Proposal Revisited

Final Proposal              For my final project, I intend on following a similar vein from my style project and photographing homes that have a sense of personality and uniqueness to them, specifically in State College, Philadelphia, Downingtown, and West Chester. I want to photograph this subject because I personally find homes very appealing and I think they have extreme potential to tell a story to a viewer that perhaps would have been unexplored otherwise. Furthermore, I want to address the discrepancies present among different towns and their houses (State College versus living spaces in Philadelphia versus another suburban areas of Downingtown and West Chester). Garrett Curfman revised proposal

Garrett Curfman Final project proposal Photo 202 For my final project I have decided to take photos of city atmospheres. This includes the backsides of building, and items that reflect a “backstage” view of the atmosphere. I chose to do this because I love cities. New York City is my favorite place. Myself alone in the maze of concrete buildings and seeing all the unique aspects of the city get me inspired to create. There is so much personality and stories to be told by the streets and buildings that I pass every day in downtown State college.  I have photographed buildings, streets, alleys, and different items found in the city environment that further reflect where the photos are taken.
