Mike Ferrone - Final Project Proposal
For my final project, I intend on photographing long exposures of the sky and stars at night. I want to photograph the sky with long exposures because it is something I have never tried before. I have always though night photos were incredible to look at, so I would like to give it a try myself. I think I will easily be able to revisit this subject after critiques because it is new to me. It will probably be a process to get used to and because of that I will always have room to improve. Viewers will find it interesting because I want to photograph the sky and stars but also include frames in the photos whether it is trees, frames I create, or something interesting I find to photograph through. I want them to have more depth to them than just the sky. I do anticipate there being a few challenges to this. I have never done it before, so there will be a learning curve. Also, we are in State College. The weather can be unpredictable, and there could be no clear nights when I need them. We are getting to the point in the year, also, that there could be snow or very cold nights, so I will have to take that in to account. I will also need a tripod for this which I plan on buying. I could end up spending a lot of wasted time if there happens to be some shakiness to the tripod because of wind while taking the photos and the exposures don’t turn out well. Overall, I think it will push me out of my comfort zone, and it could end up producing some really cool images to have. Trying something new is a risk, but I think it will pay off.
